Film Composer Haseo Nakanishi

 

Profile


Haseo Nakanishi was born in Tokyo Japan. He graduated from International Christian University in Tokyo, majoring in Mathematical Philosophy. Upon graduation, he was employed by Fujitsu Computer, Ltd., Second Banking System Department. Leaving Fujitsu, he became a music computer system operator.  Among other things he worked with the Synclavier System. At the same time he studied orchestration under Riichiro Manabe and worked as music composer for TV commercials and music director/composer for theatre productions.


Haseo Nakanishi went abroad to the U.S. in 2000. He entered University of Southern California (USC), Graduate School of Music: Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television, where he studied under Leonard Rosenman, David Raksin, Elmer Bernstein, Christopher Young, and Norman "Buddy" Baker. He graduated in 2001.


In 2001, he was selected as one of eighteen promising new U.S. composers invited to the ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop.  The orchestra recording of his work at the 20th Century Fox Studio was highly praised, and the event was televised by CNN World Beat.


From 2001 Haseo worked in the Christopher Young Office, as a music systems analyst, specializing in computer orchestra simulation systems (score mock-ups) and production of soundtracks for Major Hollywood Films.

In 2002, "The Shipping News," (score mock-up) was nominated for the Golden Globe, Best Original Score.

In 2004, he left the Christopher Young Office for independent work, returning to Japan in 2005.
